It was only when I finished the second bottle of Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence (€25.59) that I decided I wanted to share my own thoughts on this cult essence. The first wave of Korean cosmetics and skincare owes snail mucin much of its success: a few years ago, Snail mucin was completely unknown to us here in the West. We have written about the benefits of snail slime before, but we can't get enough of this multifunctional skincare ingredient!
The secret behind snails is the combination between glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid, peptides, and elastin of which the mucin is made. Snail mucin is thus a compound ingredient in which you will find plenty beneficial actives. Thanks to this powerful combination, snail mucin is capable of reducing inflammation, treating acne breakouts and scars, stimulating collagen production (and thereby minimizing fine lines), and moisturising the skin. If you think about it, it’s a sort of an all-in-one product, and one of the best out there for people suffering with reactive and acne-troubled skin. But there is more. In addition to a high concentration of snail mucin (90%!), this essence is powered with EGF (epidermal growth factors) and Bee Venom, boosting the healing and cell-turnover properties of this product to a whole new level. Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence comes in a hygienic bottle (60ml) and 2-3 pumps are more than enough to cover your face, but you can choose to concentrate application on the most affected areas. This essence has a true gel texture which is quickly absorbed without leaving residue. Some might fear this will result in a low moisturizing effect, but don’t worry. This essence delivers a great level of moisture for those with oily and combination skin – though normal and dry skin types should follow up with additional moisturizing steps in their routine. If you are afraid that moisturizers will trigger further acne breakouts, apply a more generous portion of this essence and follow up with the Benton Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream (now that’s a long name).
My personal experience with Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence has been one of the most pleasant skincare encounters. It’s my go-to product when my skin looks distressed and the essence I’ll reach out to if my skin is showing signs of an upcoming acne breakout. Overtime, I’ve noticed a drastic reduction on my redness and I have to credit Benton Snail Bee Essence for a good part of that. Results didn’t come overnight, but after a few months my skin was more stable and resilient. This has become a staple product in my skincare routine and I hope Benton will keep on upgrading the formula of this all-time favorite. What can I say? Some products are worth the hype!
